Here it is: the best explanation that I could come up with for the ins & outs of my still life process, plus a movie that my husband made...please pass along any questions!
Each image begins as a 3-dimensional tabletop still life built using toys and props. Sometimes real vegetables set the scale, and are joined by teeny posed photos that I've prepared ahead of time. Some toys are bought, some found, some made, and nowadays people just seem to unload them on me! Currently, all of my photos are shot on a Pentax 6 x7 camera with a macro lens. Originally, I shot my photos on black & white (Tmax) film and handpainted each print; lately I use Fuji Provia transparency film, and later scan my negatives. I then print them archivally on a large scale Epson Ultrachrome Printer.
